چکیده

Abstract Conservation biology emerged as a crisis discipline in the twentieth century amongst an increasing awareness of pollution and habitat loss. Since early 2000s, societal monetary benefits nature were added to narrative for biodiversity conservation. Using text mining, we show that authors now favour ecosystem-services over framing scientific publications on coastal habitats. This may signal shift conservation science from services despite continuing We discuss whether should more critically assess what they deploy consequences this have action.

Assessing Ecosystem Services to Identify Conservation Priorities

The history of life is fi lled with examples of one species diverging into several, even thousands, each with unique traits geared to the demands of its ecological niche. In the textbook case of adaptive radiation, an ancestral fi nch species landed on the Galapagos Islands just a few million years ago, and evolved into 13 new species with specialized beaks adapted to exploiting the various see...

Conservation Planning for Ecosystem Services

Despite increasing attention to the human dimension of conservation projects, a rigorous, systematic methodology for planning for ecosystem services has not been developed. This is in part because flows of ecosystem services remain poorly characterized at local-to-regional scales, and their protection has not generally been made a priority. We used a spatially explicit conservation planning fra...

Agricultural conservation practices and wetland ecosystem services in the wetland-rich Piedmont-Coastal Plain region

In the eastern U.S. Coastal Plain and Piedmont region, diverse inland wetlands (riverine, depressional, wet flats) have been impacted by or converted to agriculture. Assessment of Coastal Ecosystem Services for Conservation Strategies in South Korea

Despite the fact that scientific and political consideration for ecosystem services has dramatically increased over the past decade, few studies have focused on marine and coastal ecosystem services for conservation strategies. We used an ecosystem services approach to assess spatial distributions of habitat risks and four ecosystem services (coastal protection, carbon storage, recreation, and ...
